Our Background

UK Diggers Ltd was established in 2003.

The directors identified a growing and yet poorly served market in which they felt they
could offer a much needed improved service to customers

The company have expanded rapidly to become one of the Midland 's leading
providers of plant hire equipment.

Our fleet is now well in excess of 300 items of plant, and is, we believe, in terms
of age profile, the best available in the sector.

We are constantly investing significantly to increase the size and range of the fleet
we offer and we are improving customer service and emergency response times
with the opening of new depots and additional dedicated service staff.

Meet the Team

Howard Thacker
Chairman
Howard, the company Chairman, has a wealth of business and marketing expertise,
managing both public and private concerns. He has successfully developed, singularly
and in partnership, several major businesses in the UK and overseas in sectors as
diverse as construction, technology, retail and agriculture.

Wayne Smith
Managing/Sales Director
Wayne has over 16 years experience in the plant hire and construction industries having
previously worked for large PLCs on various UK construction projects. For the last 10 years
Wayne has also run his own successful Cleansing and Road Sweeper Hire Business.

This experience, and the contacts Wayne has within the plant hire industry has enabled him
to help turn UK Diggers into a leading force within the sector.

Sean Hoult
Managing/Financial Director
Sean is a Certified Accountant with over 20 years experience in both practice and industry.

Prior to joining UK Diggers in 2003, Sean spent several years as Managing Director of one
of the largest independent Drainage Contractor companies in the UK . In addition to this
Sean has also acted as Finance Director for many companies in varied sectors including
retail, construction, and agriculture.

David Fletcher
Commercial Director
David spent the early years of his career as a design engineer in the aerospace industry.
He then branched into the logistical side of engineering as operations Director of the largest
golf equipment manufacturer in Europe . He has since worked on many further projects in
conjunction with Howard Thacker gaining a wealth of experience in the logistical, technical
and planning aspects of the business.

Andy Irving
Operations Manager
Andy has spent over 25 years specialising in transport and logistics. Firstly with 15 years
serving in the Royal Corps of Transport followed by 10 years running his own transport
company. This has given Andy a wealth of experience in this area, thus helping UK Diggers
to expand rapidly whilst maintaining consistently high levels of customer service.

Gary Wickes
Sales Manager
Gary has been involved in the plant hire industry throughout his working life. He has extensive
sales experience and has fulfilled many high profile roles including National and Major
accounts management in addition to running his own successful plant hire company for
over 5 years.

Paul Smith
Sales Manager
Paul has a wealth of sales experience gained from over 30 years in business, not just
in the plant hire industry but also in the agricultural and construction sectors where he
has successfully owned and run several successful companies, giving him a thorough
understanding of UK Diggers target markets.
